DLR
Consulting was created out of 18 years of experience working
as an ASL/English interpreter and interpreter-educator, working
in the diverse communities of Edmonton, Toronto, Yellowknife, Calgary
and Vancouver.
Grounded in pioneering educational opportunities
for interpreters, Debra has offered over 200 workshops and written
broadly about the field. As an active member of her professional
associations, she is noted for her work as the national president
of the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada, during
the time when the Canadian Evaluation System was created.
She is passionate about quality and about ensuring
Deaf and non-deaf consumers have access to the finest interpreters
possible. After completing a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, and
a dissertation which examined simultaneous and consecutive interpretation
in the courts, it was time to focus on new ventures.
Out of a desire to see communities capture their
talent and work together effectively, dlr consulting was born in
1998. DLR Consulting is based in Calgary, AB.
